Blue Heron review: Love songs sound heavenly

When the thoughts of the young turn to love, it scarcely matters whether the setting is ancient Jerusalem, Renaissance Europe or modern-day California – the sighs and sobs of desire sound much the same everywhere.

So the music presented during Thursday night’s sumptuously beautiful concert by the vocal ensemble Blue Heron, an assemblage of love songs from 16th century Spain, had a familiar emotional ring to it.
